An Overview of a Low Sodium Diet

A low sodium diet is generally considered to be 2,000mg or less of sodium intake per day. In the case of CKD patients, when your kidneys are not functioning properly, they are not able to filter out sodium that you consume. Excess sodium left in your body can cause additional health issues.

An Overview of Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease, or CKD, is divided into stages, 1 through 5, with stage 1 being the mildest and stage 5 being the most severe. By collaborating with your nephrologist and primary care provider, chronic kidney disease can be managed, treated and advancement delayed if caught early enough.
